SplashLearn is a game-based program that gives your child math and reading practice at their level.

About this application's review: This application was already in use before Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act came into force on June 11, 2025. It was reviewed under the previous privacy legislation, so it may not yet have completed a full review under the new Act. We are working through these reviews and will update this notice as that work is done.

What this application does and collects

Provide game-based, levelled math and reading practice for your child.

It collects:

your child's name
your child's progress and results
voice recordings
your child's gender
your child's class enrolment
a personal phone number
a parent email address
your child's username
work your child creates in the app
your postal code
your child's device and network address
how your child uses the app
your child's school

Why we can collect it

We are allowed to collect this information under Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act (s.4(c)) and the Education Act, s.33(1)(a). We are telling you about it here because POPA section 5(2) requires it.

Automated decisions: this application adjusts the math and reading practice it gives your child, based on their level. (POPA s.5(2)(d))

Where the information goes

Your child's information is used only to deliver this service. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask us not to use this application for your child. You can also ask to see, correct, or delete the information it holds about your child. Use the contact details below to make a request.
