Dear Parent/Guardian/Independent Student,
Every year, at the beginning of the year, we notify you of the online applications we use as a division. In addition, this year, your child's teacher or school wants to use XtraMath.
XtraMath is a supplemental program that helps students quickly and accurately recall basic arithmetic facts, a common hurdle that slows problem solving and leads many learners to rely on finger counting. It uses adaptive spaced repetition—like smart flashcards—to focus practice on the specific facts each student needs based on their strengths and weaknesses, with short daily sessions and clear mastery goals. Unlike pen-and-paper drills, XtraMath adjusts in real time, tracks progress, provides informal assessments and reporting, and motivates students with awards and certificates. By strengthening fluency, it builds a solid foundation for future math, increases confidence, and helps reduce math anxiety; strategies should be taught first, and XtraMath provides efficient, individualized practice afterward.
