Dear Parent/Guardian/Independent Student,
Every year, at the beginning of the year, we notify you of the online applications we use as a division. In addition, this year, your child's teacher or school wants to use Teach Your Monster to Read.
Teach Your Monster to Read is a phonics-based reading game that helps young children tackle the first two years of learning to readโfrom matching letters and sounds to reading simple sentences and little books. It addresses the common challenge of early readers needing engaging, repeated practice with letter-sound recognition and blending by turning that practice into a playful adventure where kids create a monster and learn through interactive games. Designed with experts at Roehampton University and aligned with major systematic phonics programmes (including UK Letters and Sounds phases 2โ5), it offers benefits beyond pen-and-paper: highly engaging game play and clear progress tracking so adults can spot where extra support is needed. Used at home and in classrooms, the three included games (First Steps, Fun With Words, Champion Reader) have helped millions of children build essential literacy skills, with teachers and parents reporting noticeable improvements within weeks.
