Background
The Grasslands School Division Board of Trustees has retained responsibility for the hiring of a superintendent, assistant superintendents, associate superintendent business services, and the appointment of principals, vice principals, and assistant principals.
Hiring processes for other positions shall be determined by the superintendent who shall ensure that practices are thorough, transparent, and focused on hiring the best person for each position.
Procedures
- Roles and responsibilities for the various aspects of the hiring process are outlined in the attached chart.
- In order to ensure that there is no real or perceived possibility of nepotism in hiring:
- No employee shall be involved in short listing if an applicant is a relative.
- No employee shall be involved in interviewing candidates if one of the interviewed candidates is a relative.
"Relative" means any person who is a spouse, adult interdependent partner, child, sibling, parent or grandparent, aunt, uncle, nephew or niece of the applicant and includes in-laws, step-children, individuals who were formerly married and are presently divorced, and individuals who were formerly adult interdependent partners.
